Ladies and gentlemen.

Assalamualaikum w.b.t and a very good afternoon I wish to all.

First and foremost, let’s express our gratitude to God, The Most Gracious and The Most Merciful for blessing us with great health. As the project manager of TEC 2010, I am honoured to thank our special guest,Y. Bhg. Dato’ Haji Syed Zainal Abidin bin Syed Mohamed Tahir for allocating his valuable time to be with us here today for  the Officiating Ceremony of Technology, Education and Career 2010 or better known as TEC X.

My very special thanks also go to all the private and government organizations for their involvement in this year’s TEC. It is due to their continuous cooperation and support, that this annual event has been successfully organised each year since 2001. We are glad and happy that this collaboration between the university and participating companies has become so well established and beneficial for both parties.

Ladies and gentlemen,

‘Decade of Renascence’ is the theme for the tenth anniversary of TEC. It emphasizes the establishment of a legacy that reflects over a decade of fortitude to thrive in both good and challenging times. TEC X is creating a benchmark for the next generation to develop future creative and well-rounded students. The intention is to give students’ minds a wider perspective of career opportunities together with the determination and commitment to survive in this demanding era.

Ladies and gentlemen,

The Executive Director of the Malaysian Institute of Economic Research (MIER), Datuk Dr Mohamed Ariff Abdul Kareem, has been quoted as saying “The Malaysian economy is expected to face tougher and more challenging times following concerns that the US may be heading for a double-dip recession”.

Although reports claim the global economy is moving out of recession, it is not completely out of the woods. To make sure that Malaysia can recover, our country needs people with expertise, satisfying the qualifications to be employed. Academic qualifications are important to ensure that companies will be competent enough to face any changes and lead to better economic growth.

As Malaysia goes towards its aspiration of a fully-developed nation, graduates must keep up the pace to be equal, if not greater than their foreign counterparts. Everyone has to do their part in contributing to the country to ensure the future of our growing nation. In this respect, TEC X is organised to become a guide for students to develop their capabilities. It is a platform to provide exposure to UTP students as well as students from other Institutions of Higher Learning on the possibilities that can be offered by the industries in terms of career and training prospects. These capabilities, in turn, will bring innovation and advancement to our country, through technology and education. We believe that TEC X can, and will able to shift paradigms and make waves to bring the country to even greater heights in the eyes of the world.

On a final note, once again my extreme gratitude goes to Dato’ Haji Syed Zainal Abidin bin Syed Mohamed Tahir, sponsors, companies and organizations who have been  involved and supportive towards TEC X. My utmost gratitude also goes to UTP Management and Staff for their undivided support and guidance especially Mr. Nor Idham bin Che Ghani, our Career Advisor. Not to forget my beloved secretariat of TEC X and MPPUTP that have devoted a great deal of their time and displayed their full commitment ensuring that TEC X is a successful annual event for all.

With that, I Thank you.
